Me laughing into my Earl Grey

Hi, my name is Marten. I am a grad student in linguistics at the University of Göttingen.

I am a part of the research project The Landscape of N-Words, where I work (mainly) on negative markers and Expletive Negation. Currently, I am writing my dissertation about the link between concord and the directionality of agreement.

My non-negation research interests are the syntax and semantics of modal items, and non-negative concord systems. I enjoy working on languages in the Algonquian family, particularly Nishnaabemwin and Arapaho. I also frequently work with language variants that are considered to be 'substandard' or otherwise low-status.

My non-academic interests include the Northeast Asian boardgame baduk/go/weiqi and boxing. Attempts to combine the two have so far resulted in failure.
